Cacao Truffle ceremony

Cacao is an additive for truffle ceremonies as it is believed to have spiritual and medicinal properties. Cacao is considered a heart-opening plant medicine that can help facilitate emotional healing, release blockages, increase energy and focus, and enhance creativity. During our truffle ceremonies, cacao is served as a chocolate drink mixed with other natural ingredients such as Blue Lotus or Passionflower.

The addition of cacao during a truffle ceremony serves as a powerful catalyst for deep inner work and personal transformation. While the effects of cacao can vary from person to person, many people report feeling a heightened sense of awareness, connection with others, and a deep sense of love and compassion.

Cacao and it's origin

Cacao was deeply ingrained in the religious and cultural practices of ancient civilizations such as the Maya, Aztec, and Olmec. The oldest evidence of cacao use dates back to approximately 5,300 years ago by the Mayo-Chinchipe civilization in Ecuador. Traces of theobromine have been found in their pottery, suggesting cacao was used as a drink. The cacao tree was considered sacred, and the beans were seen as a gift from the gods.To prepare the cacao for ceremony, the beans were first roasted and then ground into a paste. This paste was mixed with water and various spices, including chili peppers, vanilla, and cinnamon.

The active ingredients of Cacao

Cacao contains several bioactive compounds. Some of them are polyphenols, essential and minerals like magnesium, copper, potassium, and iron.Other psychoactive molecules that are present in cacao are Theobromine, Anandamide, Phenethylamine and MAOi.

Caffeine

Cafeine Cacao truffle ceremony

Cacao contains theobromine and caffeine, which look similar. Theobromine is a mild stimulant that acts as a vasodilator, improving blood circulation and providing a relaxing effect on the body. It also has a similar effect to caffeine by inhibiting the breakdown of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), a molecule that triggers various signaling pathways that promote energy, mood, and alertness. Caffeine acts as a stronger stimulant that stimulates the central nervous system, promotes mental alertness and enhances mood. It also constricts blood vessels, increasing blood pressure, and increases heart rate. The combination of theobromine and caffeine gives cacao its energizing and mood-enhancing properties. During cacao truffle ceremonies the cacao addition is served first the have time in between to let the energizing element fade a little bit before taking the magic truffles.

Phenethylamine

Fenylethylamine Cacao truffle ceremony

Phenethylamine (PEA) is a naturally occurring chemical in the brain that acts as a neurotransmitter. It is reported to have a significant impact on perception and mood by enhancing brain activity and increasing the levels of certain neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin.

PEA promote feelings of well-being and pleasure, as well as improve focus and concentration. Some studies have also suggested that it can enhance sensory perception and cognitive function, leading to an increased ability to think abstractly and creatively.

The combination with psilocybin from magic truffles can result in a journey with more positive emotions.

Anandamide

anandamide

Anandamide is a neurotransmitter that is naturally produced by the body and belongs to a class of chemicals called endocannabinoids. It plays a role in mood regulation, pain management, and memory processing. When Anandamide binds to the endocannabinoid receptors, it can lead to the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that is often associated with feelings of pleasure and rewards. This can lead to an improved mood and overall sense of well-being.

Anandamide can also impact the perception of pain. When anandamide levels are increased in the body, it can lead to a decrease in pain perception.

The combination with magic truffles can lead to a experience with less physical and emotional pain.
